Frequently Asked Questions

How do I start a new round?

From the main screen, tap Start New Round, then choose your course and players. You can add new courses or players directly from those screens if you haven't already.

How does Vegas work?

Vegas is played in teams of two. Each hole, a team's two gross scores are combined into a two-digit number — the lower score goes first (a 4 and a 6 make 46). The difference between the two teams' numbers is the points won that hole, multiplied by the point value. By default an opponent's birdie flips your number (so 46 becomes 64), which can swing a hole dramatically. Set your teams in Players → Vegas.

What is Blind Wolf?

In Wolf, the captain can commit to going solo before anyone tees off — a "Blind Wolf." It's riskier than a normal Lone Wolf, so it pays a bigger multiplier (a bonus you can set in Wolf settings). Declare it on the hole entry screen before the tee shots. You can turn Blind Wolf off entirely in settings.

How does shot tracking and the Coach's Summary work?

First, tell the app which player is you: open that player's record and turn on the "This is me" toggle (only one player can be you). A My Shots tab then appears on the hole score entry sheet, where you can log your tee shot, chip, putts, and trouble (water, lost/OB, bunkers) for your own ball — that's free. The Stats dashboard (SidePot Pro) then charts your trends over time, and on devices with Apple Intelligence a short Coach's Summary phrases those numbers as a plain-language read — it only ever sees your pre-computed stats, and everything runs on-device.

How does iCloud sync work?

Your round history, players, and courses sync across every iPhone and iPad signed in to the same Apple Account, using your own private iCloud. It's automatic — there are no accounts to create, no setup, and we never see your data. The round you're actively scoring stays on that device until it's saved. You can turn iCloud off for the app at any time in iOS Settings.

How do Events & Series work?

Tag a round with an event name — a tournament, a golf trip, or a recurring game like "Sunday Dogfight" — on the Round Setup screen or when finishing the round (you can also add or change it later in History). In the History tab, pick an event from the filter to see just those rounds, then tap View Series to see the trophy holder and a cumulative money leaderboard across every round in the event. You can choose how the series winner is decided per event.

What is Settle Up?

On the Payouts screen, Settle Up turns everyone's net winnings into the simplest set of payments — exactly who pays whom, with the fewest transfers to square the group up. No more mental math in the parking lot.

We play from different tees. Are the games still fair?

Yes. Add tees with their course ratings to a course (edit the course to enter them). When players in a round choose different tees, SidePot automatically gives extra strokes to players on the higher-rated tees equal to the rating gap — the standard fairness adjustment — so every money game stays honest.

How do I give a player extra strokes in a game?

Open Players → Lineup and tap a player to expand their Extra Strokes section. You'll see a stepper for each net game that player is in — and a separate one for each Nassau match — so you can spot someone a courtesy pop in just the side game while the group game stays scratch. The strokes apply whether or not that game uses handicaps (added on top when it does), and the scoreboards, payouts and Settle Up all update automatically. You can review who got what afterward on each game in the round's History detail.

How do I share a round with my playing partners?

In History, select one or more rounds and tap Export Rounds — SidePot creates a file you can AirDrop or message to anyone in the group. When they open it, SidePot imports those rounds into their own History (and their Stats), with duplicates detected automatically.

How do I share a Round Recap after finishing? New

A Round Recap card appears automatically right after you finish a round. You can also share one anytime from an active round's Send menu (the share icon in the toolbar, then Share Round Recap), or from History by opening a saved round and tapping the trophy icon — it's a clean scoreboard image showing who won, who paid, and the final numbers for every game, ready to drop into Messages or any share sheet.

How do Quick-Start Templates work? New

Set up a round as usual — course, players, and games — then open the Quick Start Templates section in Round Setup and tap Save Current Setup as Template. The next time your regular group plays, pick that template to load the same course, players, and games instantly instead of rebuilding it from scratch.

How does the scorecard scanner work? New

When adding a new course, tap Scan a Scorecard and point your camera at a paper scorecard with a visible par and handicap table. SidePot reads the table and fills in pars and handicap indexes for you to review and edit before saving — no more typing in 18 holes by hand.

How do I press a Nassau match?

Open the Nassau scoreboard mid-round and tap Press on the match you want to press, then choose the hole it starts on. Manual presses work alongside the automatic presses you may have configured in Nassau settings.

How does the Sixes game work?

Sixes (also called "6-6-6" or "Round Robin") is a four-player game played over 18 holes split into three 6-hole segments. Your partner rotates each segment, so you team up with each of the other three players once:

• Holes 1–6: Player 1 & 2 vs. Player 3 & 4
• Holes 7–12: Player 1 & 3 vs. Player 2 & 4
• Holes 13–18: Player 1 & 4 vs. Player 2 & 3

Each segment is its own best-ball match — the lower net score of the two partners wins the hole — played for a flat bet, with the winning side splitting the pot. Sixes requires exactly four players.

How do I set the playing order and partners?

Open Players and select the Lineup tab. Everyone listed there is in the current round. Drag and drop to set the order. That order is used to seed games that depend on it — Wolf's captain rotation, and the Sixes partner pairings shown above (the four players become Player 1 through Player 4 from top to bottom).

Where can I see past rounds?

Finished rounds are saved automatically. Open the History tab to browse previous rounds and tap any one to see the full scorecard and game results. Detailed Stats and trends are part of SidePot Golf Pro.

Can I play Stableford for money?

Yes. In Stableford settings, enable the money game. Payouts use a relative-quota ("vs. the field") format: each player has a quota — by default 36 − handicap — and you settle on points scored above or below quota. You can also set a flat quota for everyone or a per-player override.

How does voice score entry work?

On the score entry screen, tap the microphone button and speak the score (e.g., "five" or "birdie"). SidePot Golf transcribes the score on your device — audio is not sent to any server.

How do I share live scores with other players?

SidePot Golf supports live score sharing over Wi-Fi using Apple's Multipeer Connectivity. On the scorekeeper's device, toggle Live Sharing in Settings. On other devices, switch to Viewer Mode to follow along in real time. All devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network — nothing is sent over the internet.

I purchased Pro but it shows as locked. How do I restore it?

Open the Pro Upgrade screen and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple ID that made the original purchase.

How do I add my home golf course?

On the course picker screen, tap Add a New Course at the bottom. Enter the course name, par for each hole, and (optionally) the handicap rank for each hole. You can also share courses with friends via export/import in Settings.

What side games are supported?

SidePot Golf supports:

• Nassau — Front 9, Back 9, and Overall match play with auto-presses
• Skins — Win each hole outright
• Wolf — Rotate captains, choose partners or go solo — including Blind Wolf
• Vegas — Two-player teams combine scores into a number; birdies flip it
• Sixes — Foursome game in three 6-hole segments with rotating partners (also known as 6-6-6)
• Bingo Bango Bongo — Points for the first on the green, closest to the pin, and first in
• 9 Point — 3-player points game
• Four-Ball — 2v2 best-ball match
• Scramble — Team format: Best Ball, Texas Scramble, Foursomes and Greensomes, as strokes, skins or match play
• Stableford — Points-based scoring, with an optional quota money game
• Trash / Junks — Side bets for greenies, sandies, polies, and more

Can I back up or share my data?

You can export both Players and Courses from the Settings tab as JSON files. Save them to iCloud Drive or Files, or share them with friends. Re-import via the same Settings options — duplicates are automatically skipped.

You can also share an individual round's scores or a scorecard image straight from the round screen using the share button — send them via AirDrop, Messages, or any app in the share sheet. Saved rounds can be exported from History for your playing partners to import into their own apps. SidePot Pro adds a printable PDF scorecard export.

iCloud sync also keeps your round history, players, and courses backed up and in step across your iPhone and iPad automatically — no setup required.

Does SidePot Golf collect any personal data?

No. SidePot Golf does not collect, track, or transmit personal data to us. Everything you enter — scores, players, courses, and game results — stays on your device, unless you turn on iCloud sync, in which case it syncs through your own private iCloud account (never through us). The app isn't working as expected. What should I do?

Try the following steps:

• Force-quit the app and reopen it
• Restart your iPhone
• Make sure you're on the latest version of iOS and SidePot Golf

If the issue persists, please email us with a description of the problem and (if possible) a screenshot. Include your iPhone model and iOS version.

Privacy

SidePot Golf is built privacy-first:

• No accounts or sign-up required. You can use the app immediately.
• No analytics or tracking. We don't know who you are, what you do in the app, or when you use it.
• Your data stays yours. Scores, players, courses, round history, and game results are stored locally on your iPhone. iCloud sync keeps them in your own private iCloud — never on our servers.
• Voice recognition is on-device. Audio is never uploaded.
• Live sharing is local-only. Multipeer connections happen over your Wi-Fi network and never go through the internet.
• In-app purchases are handled entirely by Apple's App Store. We never see your payment information.
