SidePot Golf — Privacy Policy
Effective: July 13, 2026
SidePot Golf ("the app") is designed to keep your golf rounds, players, courses, and side-game results private. We do not run a server of our own, we do not host any cloud database, and we do not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal information to us or to any third party. The one exception is optional iCloud sync, which stores your data in your own private iCloud account — described below.
What stays on your device
All of the following data is stored locally on your iPhone or iPad and never leaves it unless you explicitly export it, share it, or turn on iCloud sync (see below):
- Players, nicknames, and handicaps you add
- Courses, pars, and hole handicaps you create or import
- Round scores and side-game results
- Round history, statistics, and app settings
You can delete any of this data at any time by removing it from within the app or by deleting the app itself.
iCloud Sync
If iCloud sync is on, your round history, players, and courses are stored in the private database of your iCloud account and kept in sync across the iPhones and iPads signed in to that same Apple Account. This data is handled by Apple under Apple's terms and privacy policy; it is end-to-end within your own account and is not shared with SidePot or any third party — we have no access to it and no account of our own. Your currently active, in-progress round stays on the device you are scoring on. You can turn sync off at any time in iOS Settings, and deleting the app or signing out of iCloud removes the app's data from that device.
Live Sharing (Viewer Mode)
When you turn on Share Round Live as the scorekeeper, the app advertises itself to other nearby SidePot devices using Apple's Bonjour service and accepts direct connections over your local Wi-Fi or peer-to-peer Wi-Fi network. Round data is sent only to viewers who choose to join your session, and only over that local connection. Nothing is uploaded to us or to any third-party server. When you stop sharing, advertising and any open connections end immediately. Sharing also stops automatically after 30 minutes of inactivity.
Voice Score Entry
If you use voice entry to record a score, audio is processed by Apple's on-device Speech Recognition and on-device Apple Intelligence framework. No audio is sent to SidePot's servers or to Apple's servers for the purposes of this app. The audio is used only to transcribe a score and is not stored after the score is entered.
Local Network permission
iOS will ask for permission to use your local network the first time you turn on live sharing. This is required for nearby devices to discover and connect to your phone over Bonjour. The permission is used only for the live-sharing feature described above. You can revoke this permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network.
Microphone permission
iOS will ask for microphone permission the first time you use voice score entry. This is used only to capture spoken scores for on-device transcription. You can revoke this permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.
Analytics, Tracking, and Advertising
The app contains no third-party analytics, no advertising SDKs, no crash-reporting services, and no tracking of any kind. We do not maintain user accounts. We have no way to identify you.
In-App Purchases
SidePot Pro is sold through Apple's App Store. Purchase and receipt validation are handled entirely by Apple; we never see or receive your payment information.
Children's Privacy
The app does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date. Because we do not collect contact information, we have no way to notify you directly.
